County Council has let down young people in Hampshire

5.20.05pm GMT Mon 20th Mar 2006

The Government is bailing out Tory-run County Hall over services for young people, according to the Lib Dems.

Hampshire County Council spends £50 per year for each teenager in the County on providing youth services. That's just two thirds of the amount spent by counties such as East Sussex and Somerset.

'The Government has recently announced extra funding for youth services in Hampshire and we welcome that. But this is just papering over the cracks of damage done by years of underfunding from Hampshire Conservatives', says Lib Dem Councillor Brian Dash.
