Hampshire Lib Dems have slammed the decisions to slash rail services in the west of the county.

Local MP, Sandra Gidley commented:

"Cuts to the Romsey to Totton and Romsey to Salisbury services have understandably caused great concern for local people and the many customers who use these services every day.

In January I secured a debate in the House of Commons on the issue of rail travel in the South East and challenged the Transport Minister on a number of local rail travel issues.

Recently I met with First Group Trains to discuss these important issues. I have also secured a meeting with Transport Minister Derek Twigg. I am very much looking forward to discussing local rail services in particular Romsey to Totton and Romsey to Salisbury with him on March 28th and hope that the outcome of the meeting will be good news for local train passengers. I will also present a petition signed by thousands of local people protesting at the proposals".
