Hampshire County Council is discouraging people from recycling Christmas wrapping paper

Keith House, Hampshire Lib Dem Shadow Environment spokesperson, has slammed the County Council for trying to discourage residents from recycling at Christmas, and spending tens of thousands of pounds in its effort.

"The County Council is saying that people should not recycle any Christmas wrapping paper this year because some of it has foil and plastic in it. They are spending tens of thousands of pounds sending this message to every home in Hampshire. This is a disgrace. Most Christmas wrapping paper can and should be recycled. What the County should be doing is managing their contractor better to sort out the small amount of paper that cannot be saved and encouraging everyone to have a truly green Christmas."
