Shadow Minister backs Earthquake Appeal on visit

Lib Dem MP Edward Davey backs Earthquake Appeal on visit to Southampton University

Edward Davey, Liberal Democrat MP and the Party's shadow Education minister spent the day on a fact finding tour of Hampshire last Friday.

While visiting Southampton University to listen to students concerns, he also gave his backing to efforts to raise funds for the relief effort in Kashmir following the earthquake.

Students from the University's Islamic Society were promoting a 24 hour fast in aid of the disaster fund.

Mr Davey also visited Staunton Park Community School in West Leigh near Portsmouth. He met with the school head teacher and pupils to discuss the issues facing secondary schools.
