Liberal Democrats - Winning for Hampshire

Fair deal for pensioners

12.46.48am UTC (GMT +0000) Sun 10th Apr 2005

Everyone has a right to live in dignity and security in old age. Hampshire Liberal Democrats will support this aim by boosting services providing care in the home.

Lib Dems will also aim to provide free local bus travel for all pensioners anywhere in Hampshire at any time.

When the Liberal Democrats ran Hampshire County Council from 1993 to 1997 we introduced innovative 'half fare' bus passes for pensioners. This time we hope to go the whole way and make all journeys that start or end in Hampshire free for pensioners.

A Liberal Democrat-run County Council will also take a strong lead in promoting better health services in the County.

Nationally the Liberal Democrats want to see personal care made available free to all those who need it as nursing care is now.
